100 Watt Power System

Our overall concept consists of a 6U x 6HP x 160mm ruggedized Plug in Power System. The system also contains over voltage, over current, over temperature and short circuit protection. The UPS system has been designed to comply with all of the radiated emissions, susceptibility and conductive emissions requirement of the applicable sections of MIL-STD-461E. These techniques have been used successfully by AJPS to comply with these standards many times in the past. The following is a list of methods used for controlling emissions:

  1. Metal Chassis with gaskets on all non sealed interfaces
  2. EMI Filters on all input and output power lines
  3. Internal circuitry shielded and isolated
  4. Ground Planes used for noise isolation
  5. Connectors area isolation from Conversion Area
  6. Shielding will be required on Power Cables

The unit will be designed to meet MIL-STD-461E all testing will be the responsibility of the customer.

100W Power System

This power supply also has an NED Circuit.

The assembly will provide an internal Nuclear Event Detector (NED) with an output voltage crowbar circuit.  The internal NED circuit shall consist of a SCR (part number 2N2324) with a 1k ohm (+/-1%) resistor connected from SCR Gate to Cathode.  In parallel with the 1k resistor shall be a .01µF ceramic capacitor.  When the SCR is triggered, the power supply shall shut off and crowbar the +5V, +3.3V, 12V isolated, and +/‑12V outputs to less than 35% of nominal voltage within 400µs.  Following nuclear event detector SCR trigger, the power supply shall remain off until +28V input power is cycled off then on.

The assembly will also accept an external NED_DR signal referenced to +28V_RTN.  When the NED_DR signal is open circuit or less than 4V, the power supply shall operate normally.  When the NED_DR signal is connected to +28V input power for 100µs minimum, the nuclear event detector SCR shall trigger, shut off the power supply, and crowbar the output voltages.  Following nuclear event detector SCR trigger, the power supply shall remain off until +28V input power is cycled off then turned on.  The NED_DR input shall have an input impedance of 20k (+/‑10k) ohms.
